Sat down today and cranked a LOT of this bad boy out. For the last few months he’s been sitting there with one arm and the torso halfway finished…with the last skill I needed to tackle this thing kind of haphazardly acquired, it’s time to finish this big SOB off.
The resin kit is a TON of work that I’m not used to do, especially in the masking department. I’m definitely not masking master GaiGun, so some areas are in need of a little cleaning up after painting (namely the back skirts). While everyone says to prime resin to be sure the paint sticks, it’s nine-something from hobbywave and they have flat ten dollar shipping and you can see why that would be pretty much stupid…so I took a risk and painted the remaining red without priming it. The end result is hugely positive, though it took 5-6 light mist coats before I had a nice cherry mica red. It’s a little lighter than the chest, but the funnels are a darker red due to the blue base…the 3 shades work together very well, luckily.
The end of the road for this kit is in sight but still a good distance off- I need to-
- replace the joints in the waist with the resin ones,
- assemble the hands and gatling for the left arm (intentionally swapped the sides because I’m weird like that)
- tighten up the joints more for the feet and funnel racks
- detail the undersides of the skirt parts
- paint the rifle parts
- gloss coat with a silver or metallic red (would love for some people to weigh in here) panel line wash
- find some glossy topcoat to finish it off with. What the hell do people in the states use, anyway?
So there’s still a lot of work left to be done, but I can probably do it all in a day if the weather permits and I have everything I need ready.

Coming along at a good pace. Depending on what happens tomorrow I’ll work on it more.
Like Tonzo jokingly told me, things aren’t going slow at all yet, so maybe I can’t get away with calling this a Wi’S'P. I finished up cleaning up parts save for the tiny replacement wrist joints and the other very small parts like the fingers, since I’ll do those when I’m ready to assemble the actual kit. How about a look at the manual and a trip through the stuff I’ve done so far in the mean time?
First up is the manual, which is very basic and assumes you mostly know what you’re doing in terms of actual assembly. This page is one of the most important:

without cutting some parts off or down, the resin parts will not fit properly. Thus, break out your HACK HACK HACK cutters or knife and set to work!

This was the most worry-inducing modification to me, I had to cut off the old ball-joint from the MG Hi-Nu’s frame along with the front ankle frame! With only the above picture to go from, I was concerned that I was overlooking something or not interpreting something right for a little bit before biting down and just chopping away. Everything turned out fine though!

This is as descriptive as the manual gets for the actual assembly. No, the resin parts are not numbered save for a few pages at the start..have fun looking. It’s not that bad though. Note that you do use parts from the original model for a few areas.

VP foot compared to the MG foot.

Progress thusfar! Taking it apart and degreasing of the chest/head may begin tomorrow, or I may wait until I have primer/paint/ect on the way to get started. Either or, you can see that this is going to look awesome.
“Lupes, why haven’t you updated with a Turn A page, Exia page or more pictures of your Sinanju?!”
I promise, there’s a good reason for this. You see, it’s coming up on one year of the revival of my gunpla addiction and I have been working on a special project despite having things so far behind here.

“What the hell is that?!” you might exclaim. “That” is the Vicious Project Hi-Nu conversion kit. Yes, conversion kit as in resin. While I love the Bandai Hi-Nu, this iteration of it looks so much more threatening I couldn’t hold myself back from diving in to this kind of project. Right now I am still in the ‘clean-up and test fit’ stage, but have made sure to take plenty of pictures so far. Progress thusfar as of a few hours ago…

There are a few parts that have a strange bend to the (V-Fin, shield) but so far I think everything is going hunky-dory.
(And I -HAVE- worked on Turn A’s page a little bit!)

Due to the marked lack of action around here, Here’s a picture of the ever reliable gunpla shelf (click for high resolution). I think the majority them have a post about them and if they don’t it’s something I’m working on fixing. You can also see that Nu is close to being finished!
Then it’s just a matter of time until Sword Impulse. Will probably make a WIP post for Nu tomorrow to show most of the construction.

Saw it in Staples on the way back from work and figured it would be perfect. Turns out, it is! Now I just have to hope my collection doesn’t continue to grow at such a rapid rate!

(The wooden box is typically where I keep unused weapons/beams/ect)
No Hyaku-Shiki today, so hopefully it arrives Monday. Haven’t received shipping confirmation for the White Unicorn, either.
Patience!
The rest of this post is about a kit I built back in January- something to tide you over while I eagerly await my MG Sinanju and MG Unicorn gundams to arrive from HobbyLink Japan. Enjoy!
