Whoops!

July 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Really sorry about the overlong delay in getting Musha’s page up but it’s there now! I had a hiccup with the internet where I was without it for three days not to mention Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 sucking up all my free time after work instead of taking pictures proper. I’ve got 0081 Senki [PSNid: FrewtLupes] on the way as well, so I’m sure that this page will slow down a bit until I get my airbrush and some other tools. Fear not though, there is something in progress that I’ll share with you now that Musha is finished proper. Bear in mind this is still in the very early planning stages, please!

This page for this will be a bit different. More on that when I get the page up, but for now it’s still awaiting it’s clearcoat and a little touchup work.

MG Musha Mk II WiP 3 – …What? (and others!)

June 12, 2010 2 comments

Well guys, we’ve started painting the armor parts! We’re a long way from being done still though, there’s a good amount of touch up work and the frame still left to do. You can even see how horrible priming the rifle went the first time!

Just like the Gundam Mk-II frame, the Musha Mk-II frame is just as poseable and outstanding. There are a few differences here and there on the legs, arms and torso but nothing that has any impact on the kit’s articulation.

Think you know what’s going on here? Maybe you should think again. The next update for this model will be to show off it’s completed form, so please keep your hands and feet inside the ride until then.

In other news, you know the PG Strike commission that I’ve been working on?

Base build: done, aside from a little fine tuning. I think I’m going to make the feet black instead of red and maybe adding some white to the torso. I’ve heard suggestions of unifying the red to all be the same color, but to be honest I’m kind of partial to the two tones of red like I am the two tones of white, it breaks the areas up a little bit. Still not done with the weapons, Aile pack, or decals. Hopefully within the month I’ll be getting that stuff so I can get back to work on this little diddy. I really like how it’s turning out so far, as does the person it’s for.

I also picked up this little guy at Colossalcon9 on a whim and built it in the same night. I love this little bugger and you can bet I’ll be giving him a hell of a paintjob and two more buddies to pose with once I’m a little more free up on my time and money. I highly recommend this thing though.

A friend of mine finished his first MG after a rather harsh run-in with the old Gouf Custom MG, and the end result was much better this time around. We’ve got big things planned for this, but for now it’s a good first project. But we’ll end on something that’s bound to be good for a laugh or two…

All glory to the ReZELtank!

MG Musha Mk II WiP 2 – Forward Progress

Chugging along, I’ve decided that I’m going to get the most time consuming part of the way right now- prepwork. The katanas are done sans a little touching up here and there to make them perfect (I’ll fix them as soon as my next paycheck comes in), the rifle and polearm still need a fair amount of work before I can call them anywhere near done. For those of you that happened to see what I had so far…throw it out. I decided to rock it up even more than what I originally had in mind since seeing busterbeam‘s frame fired the competitive spirit up to 110%. I can’t help it that it runs in the family, you know? Not that I’m trying to beat the guy (He’s good people!), but I’m sure you’ve felt a similar thing when you’re building the same kit as your friends- you want yours to match up to theirs (or they want theirs to stack up to yours, either way)! I know you guys remember our Sinanju group build and the results of that and this is very similar to that.

(Yeah, GREY SCALE.)

Anyway, on to what we’ve gotten done so far. The entire B runner has been cut out and sanded down, ready for priming. Of course, I’ll be waiting on doing that little bit until the other colored part trees have had the same treatment, save for the frame. I’m sticking to the normal knife-the-nubs-down method on that part unless the area will be visible on the finished kit since it doesn’t make sense to take the effort to make a spot that’s completely obscured have a smooth spot where it joins. Yes, it’s kind of a bad mentality, but it’s an efficient one first and foremost. I start back at work Tuesday so I won’t be able to work as often on it but having bankflow again means you’re going to finally see a lot of other projects finally getting wrapped up or worked on again. I should have the frame for this done tomorrow, or the rest of the colored parts prepped and ready to go. We’ll see which I decide on doing next time.

MG Musha Mark II WiP 1 – Weapons

You know how I said the next post would be about the PG Strike?

Well, I’m a liar. After I wrapped up the build of the Strike (It’s still awaiting decals, the Aile pack and a much better LED) I took a three hour break then wound up digging in to the Musha box. Instead of working on the actual Gundam, I’m going to focus on the weapons first and really make these shine as the well should. The first order of business? Don’t slack like usual with cleaning up the nubs. So far I’ve stuck to getting rid of them with sandpaper, which leaves me with a much nicer edge (no ugly dips!) and despite taking about 4 hours total for what you see here, I’m very happy with it. As far as paint goes, I’ve already got what I want to do planned out. It’s pouring like nobody’s business right now though, so it looks like I’m not going to get to do any painting today. With any luck it stops so I can get a little something done.

We interrupt these WIPS to BLOW YOUR MIND!

Is that what I think it is!? You bet your ass it is! While I usually don’t post news on my blog (I’ll let Ngee, Gundam Guy and others handle that) this is pretty huge to me so I felt the urge to make a post about it. I’ve been hoping for Gundam W master grades FOREVER. Say what you want to about the series but it was the first Gundam series most of us here stateside saw and because of that it’ll always be somewhat special to me. Not to mention I really loved the mecha, the majority of the designs are really good (with an exception here and there- I’m looking at you, Cancer) and never really got any proper gunpla loving. Hopefully the Wing Gundam getting an MG is followed by other W suits. Also announced was a MG Musha Mk II, which will be using the Gundam 2.0s frame supposedly, along with a SLEW of new HGs for the new ‘High Grade Across the Universal Century’ line, which I’m just going to call HGAU. Right new we’ve got the following for the line:

HG God Gundam
HG ZZ
HG Avalanche Exia
HG Astraea Type-F
HG Gundam X
HG 1 Gundam

This is shaping up to be an incredibly awesome line. The ZZ and X will definitely be on my list of things to pick up!

News care of NK/various forums.

I might as well show you a shot of the Strike, since I ran out of paint and don’t know when it’ll get finished now. You might want to brace yourselves before going any further…

Noir no more, this is the Strike LIME!
