Upcoming Project: Zaku/RX-78-2 Palette Switch

I’ve been thinking of something to do, other than simply building kits. And among a myriad of ideas came one that I thought was all too awesome. Switch the colors of the MS-06 Zaku II and the RX-78-2 Gundam. A very ambitious project considering the amount of painting involved. As much as what Lupes is working on this very minute. My first step was to set out and find 3d models of both suits. Google SketchUp delivered on both fronts and I set about repainting them part by part. Pics contained under the cut.

Zaku II Gundam Palette
Here is Zaku sporting his new paint job. I know the model isn’t all that great. But you work with what you can. (Please don’t mind the hand. The sir who produced the model made it utterly overcomplicated.)
RX-78-2 Zaku Palette
RX-78-2 was a much superior model to work with and it shows. I’m very pleased with how this looks. and I’m extremely pumped to get the work started.

Beam Rifle Action Pose, another great part of this model is that it came with multiple poses.

Bad zoom is bad. The beam sabers will sport the classic Heat Hawk purple and red.
RX-78-2 Zaku Palette
Oh the hammer. You are everyone’s best friend.

There you have it. Any comments/concerns/critiques are welcome. I want this to be as polished as possible.

Hi ! I’m a newcomer to your blog and its facinating. I just started Gunpla and only have a couple of speed grade kits. 😦
I like the concept of the palette switch and Gundam looks more interesting than the Zaku. All the best with that 🙂

Hope you don’t take this the wrong way but please source the original 3d model creators. Our work gets stolen constantly you must understand.

RX-78 has a Zaku’s color? Thats great,it looks like that it is designed for Jungle or Tropical battles!
