Commissions

Yes, I do think it’s about time I got around to putting this page up.

The whole reason I started building gunpla was to expand what I’m able to do with each model, and the ideas of other people have proven to be a good way to push what I can do. As such, I’d like to take on work that other people want and built kits and the like for them. For the time being, I can work on gunpla , resin conversion kits and full resin kits. Things like anime statues, however, are not really my forte so I am sad to say I will not be able to take work for those. As for the other kits things like painting, modifying and aftermarket parts are feasible depending on what you have in mind. If you plan to contact me with a project you’d like, it would be a huge help if you’ve got a very good idea of what you want beforehand or even a mockup if that’s within your ability to do.

Basic things:

  • Price is kit + paint + service. This is generally negotiable as I try to be a fairly reasonable fella. Paint is generally the biggest thing to have paid for since I can’t do work without it.
  • Aftermarket parts can be used, but will cost extra. Likewise, kitbashing is also possible (to a degree) but for the most part scratch building is not an option unless it is something easy. If you discuss it with me beforehand we can see if I can work something out.
  • Shipping will be standard USPS priority mail (client assumes all responsibility for this), tracking and insurance are optional.
  • Updates via the blog (If you agree to it)/IM/e-mail are easily possible, as well doing slight tweaks and revisions as the kit progresses.
  • Payment can be done via paypal- Half when the project starts and the other half once it is done, just to make sure that I do not start the project and then wind up marooned due to ill circumstances.
  • It takes about a month to finish a kit, sometimes longer. As much as I’d like, gunpla is not my primary job (nowhere near, in fact) and as such there will be some nights were I won’t be able to work at all on your kit. As long as I’ve got all the supplies, you can bet that the kit -will- get finished. All I ask for is patience.

Lastly, I can only take so many projects on at once. I don’t mind stopping my stuff to work on these, but I don’t want to wind up with too many people waiting for their kit while I work on another. If things are full up when you email me, I will mark your mail and when things have freed up a bit I’ll let you know.

Sound good? Got something in mind? Get in touch with me at frewtlupes(at)yahoo(dot)com and we’ll see what we can do. You can see some of my commission works right here:

MG Astray Red Frame Kai (Inferno ver.) [Commission]

MG RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee [Commission]

MG Sinanju ver. Ka [ Commission ]

EDIT: Please, if you have general gunpla questions or need help figuring out how to do something on your project, you can just ask that here on the blog. I would prefer it for e-mails to be kept to commission works only. Thanks!

I got a question regarding your commission work…do i have to provide the kits and all the miscellaneous stuff for the work or do i just give you an idea of what kind of work i wanted to be done and you just let me know the price for the service.? I’ve seen all your work and I’m kinda interested in maybe doing a few customizations myself but I’m just starting to get into the whole kitbashing thing..i have an idea in mind but i don’t want to do it myself…please let me know asap…thanks

Yeah, chances are that you’ll need to provide the kits and other odds and ends you’ll want me to combine together since my pool of things isn’t very big. I’ve got a few things here and there like putty and whatnot but the chances are good I’d go through it pretty quickly. Drop me a line with what you have in mind, I might be able to iron out what you have in mind and figure out what it’d cost.

Well I was thinking of doing a Ronin Warriors anime theme on a master grade astray red frame but instead of using the red frame’s head i would go with the 1/100 scale high grade astray gold frame amatsu head instead..And as for the color scheme, I was thinking of doing the white armor scheme with slight modifications to the shoulder armor, the arms and feet..

Hm, I like what you have in mind though considering the shoulder armor would have to have some pretty big changes to it in regards to scratchbuilding (a might suggest going the route of getting some replacement parts and subbing in the MG Blue Frame’s shoulder parts), the arms might be a little easier along with the feet. You might be able to contact a vendor like GGI for replacement parts for the Gold Frame Amatsu’s head parts as well, though it might wind up just being cheaper to buy the kit or see if someone is selling a built one on the cheap.

I have a MG Blue frame already built but I’m not to sure if I want to use it for the build…where can I find a built MG Blue Frame and a HG Gold Frame..?? I was thinking maybe if Ebay would have it..So all I really need are the MG Red and Blue Frame and the HG Gold Frame Amatsu or do i need another kit..?

You might be able to find them around various gunpla forums or eBay but I think your best bet is finding out which parts they are on eac kit’s respective runners and ordering them via a part replacement service. From the sound of it that’s all you’ll need, so if you get them around It’s something I could do.

Actually, email me (It’s above at the end of the commission stuff) and I might have a way to work something out.

I’m based in the US. I’ve never sent anything there before or the like but for the start of the project there wouldn’t be any extra shipping cost on your end since I prefer to use Hobbywave for getting the stuff together for a commission since they have everything you need and they’re based in the US. You can drop me a line at frewtlupes (at) yahoo (dot) com if you’re still interested and we can work the details out. I’m working 40-48 hours a week on top of getting ready to move right now, so my time is somewhat limited.
