and get right to the meat of things.
The RG GP-01 Zephyranthes is coming along really smoothly- the rest of the white parts have been primed and after that there’s some grays to paint up and then it’ll be finished! It’s a nice change of place as a simple recolor instead of something that requires a lot of time and money to be put in to it. I’m also working on the MG Banshee ver. Ka but as per the rules of hobbylink.tv’s contest I’m unable to post the WIP stuff here- you can see the updates here though. I’ll be working on the MG Full Armor Unicorn alongside it though, and I’ll make an update with pictures proper and you can just pretend it’s the Final Battle Banshee.
I finally got myself together and calibrated my camera, as well as changing some settings to get some cleaner pictures. This means we’ll be getting back to figure reviews in addition to being able to photoshoot models properly once they’re done. Of course, all of my other hobbies have kind of taken a slight back seat to Final Fantasy 14 but I’ll try to grind out these models with my time in the morning instead of pushing onwards to 50.
For at least the weekend. At long last, the two year WIP of my Astraea Type-F kitbash comes to a close! You can see the gallery of pictures and read a small writeup over at it’s page!
Also incoming: the completed Zaku II squad. Sinanju has a few more parts before I start the decal hell on it, it’s a commission that I’ve only been working on for two days right now. The final finish will be flat but as well all know loss coats are important for doing work with waterslides. The Astray is awaiting Alclad II paint to arrive so I can finish the Tactical arms. The Asrtaea has one little bit left to attach to it to give it the full 7 Sword loadout that Exia lineage suits ought to have.
The Zaku IIs are finished, I just need to get them out of the box and snap a few pictures. Working third shift at work now means I spend a lot of the daytime sleeping however.
‘Til next time!
The second figure review I’ve managed to finish, D-Arts Zero [Type Two] has a page now! Considering I own all of the regular release D-Arts Megaman X figures you can expect to see X, Full Armor X and Type One Zero at some point or another. A few of the pictures (Including the one used above) are from before I had my set-up as solid as I do now, but the pictures themselves I liked a lot so I used them anyway.
For those of you who don’t care about figures, Astraea’s photoshoot is underway. I had to fix the part that the Full Saber attaches to since the weight pulled the thin cement loose. I used milliput this time around so the bond should be a lot more solid.
Ex-oo-see’-ah: the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege)
Of course, that’s the 3rd definition from the Greek lexicon but whatever. Flows with what I did with this kit very well I think. Twin drives and some of the most potent 00-era melee weapons. The name suits it, especially once I add the GN Full Saber to the opposite shoulder. I think this kit has come a really long way from where it was when I first came up with this idea and I mean that in the best possible way. Also…
In lieu of a few changes recently, I finally bit the bullet and built myself a lightbox and went the extra mile to make it PG-sized. I might run in to issues with posing the SFs wings up…but more on that when the time comes. Additionally, I’ve started taking pictures for some figure reviews, including but not limited to…
- D-Arts Zero [Type 2], Full Armor X, X, Zero [Type 1]
- Armor Plus Ronin Warriors/Samurai Troopers [Ryo, Shi, Seiji, Touma, Inferno Armor]
- SRC GaoGaiGar [w/ Key to Victory sets 1 & 2]
And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got two commissions coming up! One will be starting at the end of this week and once it arrives you’ll see what it is. I also got a few goodies from GG Infinite and good friend Gaijin-Gunpla for a few extra side projects but we’re gonna wrap up what’s on the burner now that we have a good head of steam.
I figured out how to attach the GN Buster Sword and GN Full Saber while maintaining the new slim profile, so expect to see that once I finish painting the weapons up. The blue is a mix of Mr. Color Phthalo (how the shit do you say that?) Cyanne Blue and black, mixed about a 80% blue 20% black ratio. The end result is a very nice color that looks black under normal circumstances but when put by a light source shows it’s blue undertone.
You’ll also be seeing two commission projects here shortly. More on those when the kits arrive and I get started on them.
